Colin Sterling
Colin Sterling researches and teaches on museums, heritage, art and ecology.
Colin is currently Senior Lecturer in Heritage, Museums and the Environment at the University of Amsterdam, where he leads the BA in Global Arts, Culture and Politics. Colin’s research explores the political and ecological dimensions of heritage, art and museums. He is the author of Heritage, Photography, and the Affective Past (Routledge, 2020) and co-editor of Deterritorializing the Future: Heritage in, of and after the Anthropocene (Open Humanities Press, 2020). His latest edited volume - Aesthetics of Geopower: Contested Planetary Imaginaries - is forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press. Colin is currently working on a new book project bringing together almost a decade of research on museums and ecology, tentatively titled Museum Planet. From 2020-2021 he co-curated the design and ideas competition Reimagining Museums for Climate Action, which culminated in an exhibition at COP26 in Glasgow. Within the JUST ART project Colin leads research under the “Just Practices” theme.
