Annemarie Piscaer
Annemarie Piscaer is a designer, founder of Studio Dust, PhD candidate at KU Leuven/LUCA School of Arts, and researcher at CARADT’s Situated Art, Design, and Technology research group.
Annemarie Piscaer is a designer whose work explores how situated design—using materials as narrative tools to unravel complex systems and the ways knowledge is transmitted through them—can make invisible phenomena such as air and environmental processes tangible and engaging.
In 2014, she founded Studio Dust, a material- and research-driven design studio, and in 2018 co-founded Lab AIR with Iris de Kievith (2018–2025). Their international project Smogware transforms urban dust into ceramic glazes for tableware through participatory making processes, making air pollution tangible. Smogware has been exhibited and published internationally and is included in the collections of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, Design Museum Gent, Ceramicmuseum Princessehof, and Amsterdam Museum.
Annemarie holds degrees from Design Academy Eindhoven and a Master’s in Education in Arts. She has taught at St. Joost School of Art & Design, where she co-developed the minor Material Ecologies, and at Design Academy Eindhoven (2018–2023). She has also served as a visiting lecturer at international academies, and as an adviser to cultural and funding platforms.
Currently, Annemarie is a PhD candidate at KU Leuven/LUCA School of Arts within the Unfolding Ecologies Research Group and is affiliated with the Situated Art, Design, and Technology Research Group at CARADT.
